Le Notti dello Statere: the magic of cinema returns to light up the Laghi di Sibari.
There is a corner of Calabria, along the Ionian coast of Cosenza, where the scent of the sea meets the magic of the big screen, creating an atmosphere suspended in time. It is here, amidst the stunning setting of the Laghi di Sibari, that the spotlight will turn on at 9:30 PM on Saturday, July 4th, for the 22nd edition of “Le Notti dello Statere”—one of the most anticipated summer events dedicated to cinema, television drama, and culture.
An award bridging history and art: the Silver Stater
Born from the passion of artistic director and founder Luca Iacobini, the event has become a landmark in the national artistic landscape. The festival’s signature symbol is the prestigious “Silver Stater”—an award inspired by the ancient coin of Magna Graecia—which embodies the profound bond between the art of cinema and the historical appreciation of the Calabrian region.
The key figures of the 2026 edition
The Sibaritide stage will host an array of emerging talents alongside well-known faces from the big and small screens. Among the honorees receiving the Silver Stater this year are:
- Adriano Occulto: a performer of the new cinematic generation, acclaimed for his intensity in productions such as *Il paese dei jeans in agosto* and *The Christmas*.
- Antonella Prisco: a face beloved by the public for her role as Mariella Altieri in the series “Un Posto al Sole”.
- Maddalena Stornaiuolo: director and actress (already known for *Mare Fuori*), a voice dedicated to telling stories about social realities and urban outskirts.
- Chiara Mastalli: a highly regarded professional and unforgettable star of the cult film *Notte prima degli Esami* and hit series such as *I Cesaroni*.
The evening will be enriched by the major returns of artists with historic ties to the festival, such as Miriam Candurro and Daniela Ioia (both stars of *Un Posto al Sole*) and actor, writer, and director Antimo Casertano.
An event for the local community: culture and inclusion
Beyond the glamour and the awards, “Le Notti dello Statere” proves itself to be a project that goes “beyond appearances.” It is a strictly non-profit initiative with free admission, aiming to foster inclusion and present a bright, constructive, and positive narrative of Calabria.
The event is held under the patronage of the Municipality of Cassano all’Ionio and is made possible through the collaboration between the organizing team, the Laghi di Sibari Association, and Pro Loco Sibari Magna Grecia.
We look forward to sharing the thrill of cinema under the July stars with you!
