Eat in the City: a gastronomic guide for tourists is launched in Cassano allo Ionio
Discover local restaurants, traditions, and flavors thanks to the new initiative connecting accommodation facilities and dining in the Calabrian municipality
Francesco D’Elia’s intuition: connecting hospitality and fine dining
Behind “Eat in the City” is the vision of a local man: Francesco D’Elia, the creator of the initiative and a key figure in the tourism promotion of the Sibaritide region. It was his idea that acted as the spark: recognizing a concrete need of visitors and transforming it into a real service, built from the ground up by bringing hoteliers and restaurateurs to the same table.
A simple yet powerful intuition that found fertile ground thanks to D’Elia’s ability to network, engage with local sectors, and translate ideas into rapid, measurable actions.
Visit Sibaritide embraces the project
The initiative immediately convinced the Visit Sibaritide Social Promotion Association, which chose to enthusiastically support this wonderful project, recognizing its strategic value for the tourism development of the entire area. The association’s mission—to promote the Sibaritide territory in all its forms—finds a concrete and innovative expression in “Eat in the City,” capable of generating a direct impact on the visitor experience and the local economy.
With the support of Visit Sibaritide, Francesco D’Elia’s project has gained the organizational and promotional momentum necessary to become a stable point of reference for tourism in Cassano allo Ionio and the surrounding areas.
What is “Eat in the City”?
“Eat in the City” is a local gastronomic guide designed for those visiting Cassano allo Ionio and staying in non-hotel accommodation in the area: B&Bs and holiday homes that have seen significant growth in recent years, responding to an increasingly vibrant tourism demand.
The guide was created to fill a real information gap: tourists arriving in the area need to know where to eat, how much to spend, and how to reach the venues. As of today, they can find all the answers directly at the facility where they are staying.
What the guide offers visitors and how it works
Those staying in participating facilities will find a selection of local gastronomic proposals with all the information needed to choose independently:
- An overview of restaurants with table service
- Clear information on prices and tourist menus
- Information on how to book and how to reach each venue
- Traditional Calabrian dishes and typical local products
The goal is to facilitate the authentic discovery of the territory, also—and above all—through the pleasure of the palate.
The initiative involves the publication of two types of posters, displayed and shared within participating accommodation facilities, so that guests and managers can exchange information easily and immediately.
The first edition is already available. In the coming months, a more extensive summer edition is planned, which will also include seasonal facilities to cover the period of peak tourism in the Sibaritide.
A growing network, a look to the future
“Eat in the City” is not just a guide: it is the first piece of an integrated tourism network that aims to become increasingly efficient and widespread. The ambitions of Francesco D’Elia and Visit Sibaritide look well beyond dining, with the goal of developing innovative services for local tourism, operating in a lean, fast, and high-quality manner, with the contribution of young people and professionals in the sector.
The next release of “Eat in the City” already promises to be richer and more complete, ready to embrace a vast territory like the Sibaritide. A project born from an idea, grown thanks to a community, and destined to leave its mark.
Our focus on the territory never stops. And in the meantime… Eat in the City!
